It is with the greatest sadness, that we have to announce the passing of our president Guy Maathuis. He will be dearly missed in the M.G. community. Our sincere condolences are going to his wife Miriam, his 3 children and his family. In this dark time, we will stand together and help his family to cope with this huge loss. Rest in peace my friend wherever you are.

I was shocked, as we all were, to learn of Guy’s passing on that fateful morning.

I didn’t know Guy very well nor for a long time, we had first met in June 2019 at the MG Days in Magny-Cours in France. I was there with my MG ZT-T 260, and so was Guy with his wife Miriam and their kids. As I blew a tyre on the Lurcy-Lévis track and had no spare wheel with me, Guy gently offered me with a spare wheel of his own, so I could finish the trip home. That’s when I realized that Guy’s generosity was not in vain.

A few months later, I happily joined him and other MG enthusiasts at the Ardennen meeting in August at Berdorf (and returning the spare wheel). It was such a nice and perfectly orchestrated event that I knew I’d be coming back for more…for Guy, his enthusiasm, passion, and kindness.

My sincere condoleances to Miriam, their children, and all those who were close to him.

All my best,

Nicolas Roughol

Past Chairman – MGCC Magnette Register

I was very shocked to hear that we have lost dear Guy. I often enjoyed his company at Silverstone and other events we visited around Europe and it was so good to see his whole family involved with their beloved MGs. I particularly remember our sing-songs at the Magnette Days when Guy would get out his guitar and his song-books and everyone would share the joy of singing the old favourite songs together until late in the evening. He had a talent for animating events and an energy and enthusiasm that were infectious. Making pizza in his basement was a memorable experience for young and old and a great way to relax and meet new people. The world of MG is poorer for his loss. We will miss him. We send our heart-felt condolences to Fredry and her family.

Paul Batho – Chairman MGCC Magnette Register

Guy’s many Magnette friends are all shocked to hear of his tragic, premature death. He has been a charming, and hard-working ambassador for MGs and the MGCC for many years, following in Ton’s footsteps. We especially loved to see him, with his whole family in his ZA Magnette, at the annual European Magnette Day wherever it was held across the continent, when every Saturday evening he would lead us on his guitar in a sing-song around the embers of the fire, long into the night. It was also a joy to catch up with him at Silverstone, Beaulieu, the European Event of the Year and many other events. The world will be a much sadder place without him but he will live long in all our memories.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Miriam, Goya, Gene and Greg and of course his mother, Frederike.
